School work again. This one is from my very first semester at the university. In the Graphic Design History class we had to draw from various names of graphic designers that were put on little pieces of paper, and then make a 4-page publication about that guy in a style that he used to have. Mine was Saul Bass, whose work I already had liked a lot by that time. You can check out some of his work at notcoming.com under this link: http://notcoming.com/saulbass/index.php At that time it was only his work featured on notcoming.com, but now I visited the site, and found that by now it features a lot more films that are not coming to a theatre near you.
Last semester we had to create a crest for ourselves, and this is mine. The way I make such a thing is that I first draw it on paper, than scan it, and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator, so the result is a scalable vector image. I also made a colored version (red and orange as far as I remember), but I prefer this B/W one. I don't use it though, maybe I should.
Another version of the Billy Eliot poster that I made for school. I myself prefer this one over the previous one, as here it is not that obvious that the upper arm on the left is too short. I don't think that this poster conveys what Billy Eliot is all about, but as a poster, it's not bad. The main idea here was simply that Billy was the only boy in the ballet school in his hometown.
I found these images on The Sartorialist blog. Nice and inspirative. I love what could be called an Italian feeling, Italian easy living, an elegant yet casual way of l ife.
I believe in Beauty, I believe that Beauty can change the world.
From an early age, I've been drawn to art and drawing. So about five years ago, at the age of 33 I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an artist (never too late?) and enrolled with the University of Fine Arts in Budapest to study graphic design. And I have to say I love it.
I am making this blog because any work of art can make an effect only if it is seen. That is, I want to put my works to the test. (I truly hope that later on there will be a few people, other than me, reading my blog.) Other things I plan to include into my blog are works and ideas by other people that inspire me, book reviews, useful links and bits and pieces about things like design, fashion, cuisine, photography, family and friends. Pictures are usually clickable to be viewed at a bigger size.
